Wise choice I guess. However keep in mind that your maintenance costs and unexpected surprises may catch you off guard you when purchasing an older, modified vehicle. If you haven't considered it, I'd look into getting your prospective purchase inspected by STechnic or Maximum Motorsport to help minimize nasty surprises.

Thanks for the advice mate and yer I do realise that hence why I am only trying to look at cars that are sub 100k kms. A mate of mind is a mechnic and said he would be happy to look at it, before i commited to it. Do STechnic or MM charge to have a look at the car? If so how much is it usually?

Let's just say that cheap coilovers are generally matched by poorer quality and longevity....

Had a look at the 2nd rex yesterday. Car was really well kept, but few things just seemed odd. Car had alot more done to it then what was actually listed in the add. Bloke claimed the car hadnt been tracked before, yet the car was equipped with a fire etinguisher, racing harness seatbelts, oil catch can, anti lift on the front suspension, plus the turbo and TMIC. Car seemed to drive great until I punched it down one of the roads and smelt a burning smell, wasnt sure whether it was the breaks or the clutch, smelt like clutch. Smell went away, but was still iffy on the whole thing.

Hae ve begun turning towards spending a it more and getting a 2011 rex and financing it with a balloon at the end. The 2011 is stock though, and i am 100% gona want an exhaust (had a toemii on the 2013, but am think of getting th quad tip q300s from invidia with a downpipe as well, was gona cost around 2k from carmods aus) plus itll needa tune as well, but once its done its done i guess!

Yeh go with your gut instinct. If things don't add up and you can't get an answer that satisfies your question(s), walk away. It will forever be a buyer's market in regards to secondhand vehicles. You just have to be patient to find one you're 100% on.

He may have sprayed wd40 or something all through the engine bay to clean it up for sale. Did you raise the issue?

I would avoid balloon payments like banging a chick from Rockingham. Despite it feeling good it's going to come back and give you issues later.
