Forrester or RS Liberty????

Well, its time for me to sell my current ride and move up to the turbo category. However, besides my new ride being a subaru (ive decided that much already), i am tossing up on weather to get a forrester GT / XT or an old RS Liberty Wagon. Obviously it isnt going to stay standard for long. Any help on finalising my decision from all you turbo nuts wud be very much appreciated!

considered a Gen2 liberty wagon?

Simon 21-08-2006 12:58 PM

is that the 97 thru 99 model wagon?

Mister Two 21-08-2006 01:36 PM

Yeah, You know I want you to get an RS!

didnt the forrester Gt come standard with a tiny little turbo (TF035 - smaller than WRX td04) put in for low down towing grunt rather than top end power?

do u know wot turbo is in the early 90's liberty compared to the later model gt liberty's (96 to 99 or there abouts)?

Mister Two 21-08-2006 01:49 PM

My JDM Legacy GT came with a VF8 turbo
Aus Delivered Liberty RS came with a VF12
Gen 2 Twin Turbos use a vf13/vf14 combo I believe

Vf8 is the biggest but only slightly bigger (almost negliable) than the Aus RS vf12
Vf13/14 is tiny and complicated. Lots of Gen2 TT owners upgrade to a single turbo setup.

Get a Liberty with a conversion perhaps?

Usually got later year running gear in them, thats always a bonus.

Mister Two 21-08-2006 02:06 PM

doesnt gx/lx to RS conversion = Ass Rape or Arm/Leg Insurance Premiums?

Simon 21-08-2006 02:08 PM

tru, price wise wot do the later model liberty's go for, i believe the earlier ones are between 10 and 12K arent they?

Mister Two 21-08-2006 02:13 PM

Gen2 tt are rare in Wagon, and are usually Automatics. expect to pay $18K+ for one.
