Default Tuning for my 2002 wrx sti

Hi guys
I owned a 02 wrx sti for half year and the clock sits at 210000 kms.
The engine is remains stock except 3' tbe and runs so smooth.
Just wondering if i want to tune it up to 300hp on wheel do i need to rebuild the engine before it goes?

Choose your tuner, ask his advice. Still the stock turbo? If so, doubtful you'll see 300 at the wheels. Intake, larger injectors, bigger fuel pump, aftermarket headers...

Maybe 300 with the above supporting mods and e85? ... if you want to go to that hassle.

VF35 runs out of puff in the high 200's

Look at a VF34 or bigger with;
Silicone inlet
Walbro 255 or bigger
Intake
Injectors
Headers + up-pipe

Retune

Think I maxxed out my 35 around 280 with the supporting mods

Don't bother building an engine until one goes pop. It could last for years if tuned well and maintained properly. Pointless exercise if the engine isn't either fucked, or coming out anyway (eg. for head gasket replacement).

What Trolley is trying to tell you is start of with a billet aluminium block, and work your way up from there.

There is a track car 02 sti getting around on here with 240kw+ sitting at around 200k too that's still hauling ass every time it goes out. Who knows when yours will pop, but I wouldn't bother rebuilding anything until it does. To that effect, I wouldn't bother rebuilding it when it does either. I'd just budget for a shiny new 207 short block and a refresh on the heads if required.

Turbo will almost certainly need to be bigger for 300whp. On 98 I would look towards a blouch 1.5 or td0518/20g level turbo. E85 would help...
