Recommend me a Tyre

I want a good quality tyre thats going to last longer than 17500kms like the RE070. Want a good tyre for track but something that will last.

American Dave 24-08-2006 10:37 AM

are yours already stuffed at 17500 kms?

BOMB3R 24-08-2006 10:45 AM

Yep changed 2 already, PUT G3's on but JMAX bagged them so just want to find out what everyones opinions are.

Buy a set of R specs or the RE 070 again and put them on another set of wheels for track days!!!! Then just get an average set of road rubber for daily driving. Dont waste you $$$ and good rubber driving around all week.

I change my wheels and tyres so much know for track days that I have applied for a job with a Nascar team as the Jack Man!!!!! :D

Seriously... the best thing I've ever done to combat this issue is just bought a second set of rims with "decent" rubber on them, nothing too extreme. Then just kept my stock set of rims with good rubber for the track.

However, I've got Hancook Evo's at the moment. Pretty happy with them.

Best street/track tyre combo I've had though has been Bridgestone Potenza S03s. Had a set of 255/40 on my GTR and never been happier. Expensive though... cost me $1700 for the set.

ditto ^^ on the S03

Jaron, I just bought some new 18" street rubber, Hankook RS2 Z212 at 250 a pop..... Supposed to compete with the likes of RT615 etc but at 250 a corner I don't care if they are not quite as good anyway, should be fine for punting around town...

Tyres are like clothes.. everyone has "opinions" on them. Some people like squirmy cause thats generally how they drive, some people like a predictable tyre.. list goes on..

Do what feels right to you.

Just cause someone bagged them does not mean that its no good (too a point , you could be riding on re-treads  ).

Simply..

Want good traction , go soft tyre... soft tyre = more wear.

Want good wear, go a harder tyre ... hard tyre = less traction.

*Note these are very generic simple terms*

Other things to keep in mind are proper inflation, Tyre rotation and maintenance.

pete just say it

u love the s 0 3

Yeah i do love the S03's... i did a group buy on them a few weeks ago.

Got em at a real decent price too.

But having said that the Hankook KT105's i was riding on were not that bad either.

Its all application, driving style and stuff like that.
