So its been about 6 years since I had the pollen filter changed on my GC8, so I've started looking for a replacement.

Subaru want $55.

Repco want $80 for a Ryco unit (RCA163P), or $50 for their own brand.

Supercheap have a range of brands available starting at $80 down to $29 but have to order the $29 unit in from over east (and to be honest, I would not be surprised if the $29 unit is just utter shit)

So, before I just buy one from Subaru for $55, does anyone have any knowledge of a product that will fit a GC8 and are readily available in Perth?

(From what I've found, pollen/cabin filters for GC8 are the same as bugeye and peanut Impreza's)

Not local to perth. But have you tried Partsouq for genuine? I found them to be about 1/3 or less the price of Subaru Australia. And shipping quite reasonable and fast aswell. They use FedEx and UPS which is pretty quick considering its coming from very far away.

Not in Perth, but got mine from Sparesbox over east. Ryco RCA163P for about $38 shipped and they're quick to arrive.

Cabin filter arrived today, RYCO RCA163P. Fit is mediocre. The genuine unit has a nice plastic surround that ensures it fits and seals the space where the filter goes. The RYCO unit is a tad smaller than the genuine unit, and doesn't have the plastic surround, which all together means there is available space all around the filter (for debris and leaves etc to get past).

Was good to pay only $38 including shipping, but next time I'd probably go the $55 jobbie from Subaru for something that is a much better fit.

Out if curiosity, did you see how much they are from Non-Austrlian Subaru outlets? Partsouq, Amayama, Subaru Parts Depot, Subaru Genuine Parts.

In all my time playing with Subarus. Subaru Australia has generally been the most expensive place in the universe to buy subaru parts. And unless its something like a cabin filter, then chances are there wont be any on the shelf anyways.

Negative. To be honest, I saw Patch's post, saw how easy it was to order with Sparesbox, and just did it.


(The Sparesbox side of it was great. Easy to order, quick to ship, and cheap. It was the product that was a bit ill-fitted)

Subaru Wangara have been very reasonable to deal with for servicing parts and miscellaneous bits and pieces. By the time I factor in shipping costs most of the time it's not worth the hassle.
