Default MY00 -> CS9 ??

Hi All,

I have a MY00 with 94,000kms on it. It's stock other than a 3" TB zorst. I am in two minds about it. Spend a bit on it to make it go and handle better, or sell it and buy a new ClubSpec 9, the one Subaru have just released. Is it worth doing?? I love the classic shape, but at the same time its getting a few kays on board. Is the MY06 going to be overall far enough advanced to warrant the change over price. Then there's of course the 2.5L versus the 2L. Anyone gone from a classic to a pig nose?? What are your pros and cons??

Cheers
DRex

I used to have a classic Rex and recently test drove the current shape.
Did find a noticable improvement in the lack of turbo lag and the progressive way the power came on. Didn't give it a thrashing or anything but definately still a very enjoyable drive.
Best way is to take one for a test drive yourself and feel the difference.

I am quite interested in the new CS9 aswell, have you found anywhere that actually has one on display?

Melville Subaru had one this afternoon, in the service area.

IMO it doesn't look as good in person as I was expecting after seeing the photos.

I had to laugh when the guy at Osborne Park tried to get me to sign up by looking at a blown up photocopy of the photo from the web press release!! He was so enthusiastic, I swear the dude sounded like he wanted to fuck the car!!!

Don't drop the big ones on your current car, if you aren't liking it as much as you used to. This will only delay the inevitable (you will be sick of it again in 3 months) and you will have wasted money better spent on your new car.

A Dicknose is still going to look like a dick even with Bling wheels to distract you.
This will become particularily evident when the new front end comes out on all Impreza's toward the end of next year. (MY08+ Impreza)

Lets see a MY00 WRX, sell it and you will get um $20-$22k if your lucky.
New Club Spec approx $50k driveaway. Difference $28-30k. A Lot of $$$ to "play" with.

2k Sunroof
3k S/Hand Leather Seats (Previous Club Spec's)
4k MOTEC/Autronic
5k Bling Bling Lightweight Wheels
5k Very good Handling (Best Bang for Buck IMHOpinion)
10k New Motor + 6 Speed DCCD gearbox + Turbo (Twin Scroll)

Even if you just did mild handling + Turbo + ECU + 18" Rota Wheels (Prodrive Copies) your MY00 is definatley going to go like a scalded cat with 15-18k left over.

$28k These Days will get you an STI. Saw a 2 Door MY99 one just the other week for $28k-$29k modified with an Autronic.

Maybe your just into the looks (its a big dick full frontal statement) and the mild interior improvement + 2.5 ltr torquier engine. (Twin Scroll has more).
For 50k I would be getting the Q-Car of the Subaru Range. A Black Liberty GT STI. Rare second hand I would imagine though.

J

SHIT!! Can you point me in the direction where I can get all that for 10k?!
Cos If I were updating turbo and to 6 spd, I'd be going 2.5L, 10k seems a lil on the cheap side.
