no detonation! crank up the boost

Mister Two 01-10-2006 06:58 PM

it will be interesting to see how willing this engine is to rev using the more balanced boxer design.

actually diesels run on the principle of 100% detonation tuna. otherwise they wouldnt work at all. :)

be interesting to see what they can do with the engine - its probably not going to be in the wrx but rather the forester etc.

yes, thats what i meant by it... detonation inheriently being dangerous, but in a deisel's case the complete opposite...

"Subaru develops the worlds first boxer diesel"

Incorrect! I had one in my STI months ago....made in WA too! :laughing4 , ok..it was actually a petrol engine but it sure sounded like a diesel...rattled like one too..from Day 1....and went strong for 5,000km..until it went belly up !

if only diesel wasnt so marked up here

It might cost more but gives you more Mileage

no shit, but in europe and central asia its half the price of petrol...and since diesel engines are losing the choking black smog image....and actually becoming refined, i reckon its a step foward...

but since is so much more $$$ here it wont catch on...i mean a diesel audi r10 just won Lemans...quite convincingly too
