Default Cosmetic: Removing Wing

Hey guys,

Looking at taking the wing off my 03 WRX, and just wondering what is involved? Is it possible to temporarily remove it or does it have to be permanent?

Also I saw a pic of an 02 with blacked out looking tail lights - is this legal? If so is it different lights or something I can do to my current ones?

And lastly, the STI style fog light covers - do I have to get these from Subaru or is there a better place? (Couldnt find any on eBay).

Thanks (and sorry for all the questions)

wing removal doesnt have to be permanent, but youll need to find some plygs for the holes and if you wanna be legal youll need another centre brace light. blacking out lights is illegal.

removing the wing is easy two or 3 screws on each side. plus u gotta pull b/light cable through then if its only temp u can put some tape same colour as car to cover holes for now, or another option is some rubber plugs gromet type things.

I got my fog light covers second hand from someone selling them here, then had them repainted red since they don't come in that colour from Subaru.

I think Subaru want about $90 per cover, I also spoke to Dean Herridge at MMS and they can get them in for a similar price.

blacking out ur tail lights is not legal becuase the light from them will be dimmer and also u stop any of the tail light being reflective.

spot light covers just keep watching ebay u will find something if u can wait.

Removing the wing will remove your high-mount brake like. That will earn you
a nice yellow sticker. Get a high-mount from a GX to put in your back window
to keep the nice police man happy.

As a side note: Anyone who says you can get away without having one will
be interested to know that if you have an accident and somebody runs into
the back of you, then you could be held at fault. Hey, if I ever run into the
back of someone who has removed their light then I will try to pin the
accident on them, then chase then through the civil courts for negligence and
damages. My 2 cents worth... Nuff said.
