wrc cars at racecourse

whent to rally last night at glauster and fell in love for yet another year with the subaru wrc's, last year it made me want one, this year i got a wrx, next year maybe a real rally car..who knows.
my question is what kindof hp and specs have these things got. you only realise how fast they are when you see the intermediate competitors out there with their cars after the wrc's.
thanks/

i would guess at about 360hp at the fly, so around 270kw.

torque would be above 600nm at the fly.

You got a spare 200k and a pit crew for the retune every day????

You could rally what you've got now with the right suspension mods mate!

no rollcage = no rally

u need more than just suspension mods to rally !!

I rally a '92 Corolla FWD, and it's awesome ! ;)
it's not as expensive as people think

Yeh mate I know I was speaking more about staying on the track and being competitive not about regulations :D

Matt_FX 26-10-2006 02:19 PM

ahh, ok, sorry! :D

for the Gloucester Park course, to be fast, u need (like u say) the right susp setup, and some rally tyres. (and some big kahunas to thow it around near the walls!) :)

I'll be there tonight, can't wait!

according to subaru rally team oz a few years back, your highly tuned street wrx would kill a rally car (group n) in a street race through the top end. as rally cars run restrictor, they tend to make more torque at lower revs to keep them going rather than top speeds and high rpm output.
on a dirt road, different story. some clock 0-100km/h on dirt in around 3 seconds. that is awesome.
a wrc wold be different though as they carry higher speeds and have little lag de to turbo charger design and layout.
i believe that there is also a power limit (correct me if wrong) for the cars, although torqe figres are monstros
