The 86 build
A friend asked what power is the stock 86 engine with a set of pistons and rods good for. I said, let’s see what it can do

Build is
Closed the block deck Re oil phased the crank Standard cams Valve springs Machined out behind the valves and blended in the port JE drop in pistons Manley con rods 625 rod bolts Race bearings Last edited by seagull; 08-07-2022 at 02:28 PM. |

Changed the diff ratio, fitted mechanical lsd while I was at it. Fitted wider rubber and found it still lights them up.
Collected another complete engine from the junk yard $200.00 bucks. Looks new, same year, apparently they just go in the bin for scrap. So the plan is to go a little further with this one and get ARGO to make some con rods, use the same brand of pistons, I will drill and tap out the head bolts to 14mm and go plus one on the valves. Get a aluminium inlet manifold so can up the boost. Stay tuned for an update come summer |
