Default vf 35 fitment and tuning..

hey, i just got a vf35 for my 98 wrx. im going to bolt it up and hoped to then use it for a while then get it tuned later along with some other parts. does anyone have experience to tell me how much a tune would cost for this setup(just to get it going smoothly).

the car is booked in for a service 5th december with floody. should i just talk to him about it all then?

thoughts welcomed..

What ECU do you have?

At a really rough guess, would need at least 1-2 hours, and at a cost of 150-200 per hour depending where you go, it'll be anywhere from $150 to $400.

Thumbs up

Dan,

I think you will get away with just putting the VF35 on you 98. Run nothing over stock boost if your not immediately putting in an ECU. Most people come unstuck upping the boost, not upgrading the fuel pump and wonder why their engine suddenly went to the great EJ cemetery.

For piece of mind get a workshop to check you AFR's after installing the turbo.

If on a budget you could pick up a Link with an upgraded 10 row Chip (not sure in this was done in the 98 ECU) then just get a road tune done for $400, no dyno time. Works well.

A cheap Walbro fuel pump is a piece of piss to install yourself as well for a minor mod.

Wont be any install issues, its bolt on..

Use genuine gaskets and get some new crush washers for the oil lines, and you'll be sweet.
