All the prices listed are FITTED AND TUNED approximations.

$2400 ish Autronic (Second Hand)

$1700 +$800 = $2400 ish

Verso, ECUTek, Unichip and PowerFC ALL use the un-reliable 99/00 Air Flow Meter.

Want to risk a leaned out engine...eventually ?

Take the risk if you like playing poker.

i just brought a second hand autronic for 1650. Is gong to cost me 1000 for it to get tuned with a air temp sensor supplied and fitted. I only have exhaust and filter atm so very minor mods but it is one way of raising the boost safely and hopefully i should get decent gains but ill get a turbo down the track.

Also don't forget fuel pump will be a good idea too

Best to speak to a professional tuner about what you want. They will give you better advice than any fanboys. Here is a link on the forum for local tuners http://www.perth-wrx.com/vb/ecu-discussion/1296-faq-tuners-perth.html

A piggy back style would befine for what you want(Unichip,Haltech interceptor,Exede ect).If you want to go full stand alone Power FC.
Here is a quote from MRTs former head tuner Who no dose his own reflash tuning.
I would still go and talk, ask lots of questions to tuners on your short list.
Tony

"No, unfortunately I dont have the ability at present to do pre 01 models. Although for these models Im a huge fan of Apexi Power FC's. These are a fantastic ecu at a very resonable price. I have a cust. with a Power FC running (2.5L-99Sti) 11.4@123mph (with N2O and traction issues) and it performs faultlessly, day in day out.

While slightly more expensive than just a flash tune, an Apexi ecu and tune can be had for as little as $1600.

Cheers.

Paul Fisher."

drag times are no proof of an ecu's greatness, even a link can do a WOT tune for 400m of straight road.

but yes, power FC/Autronic/Motec are your only proper options, anything else is just being lazy.
