Installing a Boost Gauge in the ash tray, possible?

Now i love the OEM look and want to install a boost gauge on MY00. First thing that comes to my mind is the ash tray...anyone has done this before? maybe a DIY?? what's the best gauge size for this? if not the ash tray any other ideas?

cheers!

try a/c vent on drivers side near door, its been done heaps by people on www.iwsti.com and they show install pics as well. Nice round hole that suits the gauge well i reckon.

MY00 vents are square :(

unless you're fitting a gauge that is rectangular in shape, like a turbo timer, i can't see how you will fit a round gauge where the ashtray is

simple...dont have a guage...

or put it on the bonnet/windscreen wiper panel like trevs do.

I have a digital boost guage fitted where the ashtray was in an MY99. It is a rectangular Blitz Dual, Boost and Turbo Timer. Very handy if tweeking boost, its' saved me a couple of times thanks to the peak hold facility. There is one for sale at the moment for $100

And anyone who complains about having a free turbo timer included can kiss my other cars star...it's great for track work. Flame suit on....luv my Turbo Timer :thebirdma

i already have an alarm with built in turbo timer...i guess i wouldnt need to plug the turbo timer bit just the boost gauge. how accurate are they? and was it an easy DIY job or a day's worth of work in the workshop?
