Boosting issues
Ive noticed over the last few days my car isnt always boosting to 13 - 14psi like it normally does.
Today I just went for a drive and its only boosting to 10.5 - 11.5psi. Any suggestions on reasons and thing I should take a look at? The car is a MY02 and it completely stock (except a boost gauge - Apexi) |
Its hot out there, that can sometimes reduce your boost pressure. Just like on cold nights you get boost spikes and slight increases, it can sometimes work in reverse on a hot day.
Go for a drive early in the morning when the air temps are still cool and see how you go. |

its the absurdly hot weather. happens to my rex last time when hot weather. its pretty normal

the air in this hot weather lacks density compared to the winter months. so the turbo has to work harder to meet the boost target.
|
also increases your chances of detonation, especially on tunes which havnt had air-temp correction factored in.

Definatly the hot weather dude!
Mines doing the exact same thing :( |
indeed its the hot weather
friday night i was only hitting 1.12bar when its set to 1.2bar wow! not alot of difference there but still lol :P when its very cold my AVC-R will read 1.22-1.23bar so its doing its job quit well and limiting spikes :) |
I wonder if anyone could do a Dry Ice box just before the air filter to reduce the air intake temps....one for the Myth Busters?
|
there's a kit you can buy on the market to do that.
it looks a lot ricey than anything else unless you live in a place where temperatures are like this the majority of the time, its an overkill the engine bay isn't exactly a spacious place where you can just plonk the kit. sometimes, its hard enough to find a decent place to put an oil/air separator. |
