Brake upgrade

Looking at what are my options to get a bit more stopping power.

The old girls goin like a porn star on amil which has really left the breaks behind.

I'm looking at all my options from secondhand brembo's to 6 pot AP's.

I know Leigh has done a few brembo conversions, anyone know the costs involved are?

All advice appreciated.

well if i manage to buy back my wreck at a decent price you can get a full set of brembos at a decent price ;)

Its a straight forward fit for the front (for STi Brembos)
Rears you'll need to mod a little, but no biggies. Think the hubs/bearings will need to be swapped out.

Bear in mind that the STi brembos will require you to check the clearance of your rims. You can get non "subaru specific" Brembos which can fit 16" rims (like blaise) but these can cost a bomb as oppose to a set from the bug eye STIs.

If you go, the AP 4 pot option (around $3500) which is still an upgrade from stock 4 pot subi front, you can run standard subaru rims (well, at least the 17"s, not sure about 16")

Can get a set of front 4 pot alcons ($5000 new, $2500 seconds) as well, which is same as Grex. I rate this highly.

Cheers Joe, any ideas how much they charge for the Brembo rear conversion. I should be cool with the clearance.

I can't remember this, i did enquire before.
The hubs/bearings can be sourced either from someone selling the brembos, or at the wreckers.

As for the alcon on that site, its a good buy, but you'll need to get new rotors and pads. Which will add up to around $2500 odd total. Still not a bad price.

You'd think they'd give em a wipe down first.

So we have two options on the table so far, both around the 2.5k mark.

What about performance, anyone taken a ride with the Alcon's?

Thanks for that link Alcw, they have some cool shit on that site.

OT but what do you fellas think of this bonnet?
