Would not be surprised to see the CAMS regs start to fall into line with the Octagon (Targa Tasmania) regs in the not to distant future given Octagon have just got back into bed with CAMS. This would allow you to go up 2" in each direction on your rims. (ie run 18 x 9's?? ) on a GC8 which opens a massive range of brake options.
Personally I would be sitting tight in those aspects of a build until you know more as you would be disadvantaged if you are looking to build a competitive car to current regs and they are then changed. Main areas that might be changed in M2 is rims and possibly injectors and fuel pumps being free to allow E85 to be run. Exhausts have already been relaxed.

Your main difference with the octagon regs re Early Modern (your class) are that you can run the bigger wheels and hence brake package, and you can run E85 fuel and the associated fuel pumps and injectors to make it work. Your car can weigh 10% less than homologated weight. (good luck making it that light) It also used to be exhauts as well (nothing larger thn stock for CAMS and 3" for Octagon) but CAMS has come into line on that one. I think you can also do front mounts in Octagon rules....not that I woudl do that on a GC8. You should be able to run an aftermarket (hyperflow style) top mount though.

I ran 2 x mt buller sprints 1 x targa rookie and 1 x targa wrest point on just 1 set of pagid blues on standard discs and with dot 5.1 fluid and there was no issue at all!
Admittedly the bullers were easy on brakes but wrest point i ran top 5 early modern that year so i was not being easy on them and they took it very well! Just grab a set of them and some 4000's and you will be right as rain (i know it's not sexy but it will do the job!)
