PPG box overkill?
Hey guys I've just come over to the Subaru world after playing with nissans for many years.
I've just bought a gc8 with an ej20, tuned to 180kw I'm mostly just using it for daily use, won't be doing any launching and would like to be able to put my foot down every now and then. There is a PPG straight cut and also a helical gearbox for sale right now both around the 3k mark.. wondering if this is a pointless purpose at this power level? I've just heard so many bad things about wrx boxes and don't want to be driving scared I'll blow the box every time I get in the car. Thoughts? |
This is the book stand mate not the mechanical section
Back in the day straight cut were the go Get a six speed gearbox 110% |
2 of the best Subarus going around a track are Jamie Listers and Michael Lloyds GC8s rocking straight cuts in a speed both probably around the 200kw mark.
If you can live with the whine they're still a good option. |
I loved the whine and miss it. But the 6 speed is such a nicer box.
