GC8 insurance

Wondering you guys with GC8's how much are your cars insured for? I just got quoted $9000 for one if I pay $16000 and close to stock. That seems like some BS to me, since my last policy I had $15,000 on it. This is with Just Car.

Foxymophandlmama 16-04-2010 10:49 AM

Just cars were the worst quote I got... check out sgio or shannons.

Sayers 16-04-2010 10:54 AM

Shannons $650 per year for an MY99 WRX valued at $12500 (We do have 2 cars on the policy, clean licence, max no claims and have never made any claim of any kind. Lockable garage too.) We also chose higher excess, lower premium.

I strongly dispute the 12500 valuation, but what can you do? I make noises every year and get it bumped by $500 or so, but it's still ridiculously low for a stock-standard as-new car with 90k on the clock.

I am with RAC ...:)

13k Agreed value + Mod's
- 1800 per year
and a $500 excess with a $200 age Excess..

I am 19 Seems fair to me.:D

Chum 16-04-2010 11:26 AM

Didn't think RAC would be good at all, they did the worst online quote like $8500... Just weird how I had $15000 before and all of a sudden dropped down by $6000. I'll try shannons and let you guys know the best one I can find so people can see for future reference.

Comprehensive on the STI = $1090 ON $29k agreed value with HBF.
$600 excess
Free glass
50% ncb
No drivers under 27.

Sometimes it's good to be OLD!

I am with RAC too...

Car is insured for 17000 agreed value with an extra 3000 on top of that for sound gear.
Yearly premium is around 1800.
At the time of the start of the policy I was 20yrs old...

Market value on a 10+ year old WRX is well under $10,000. Check Redbook. What you can sell one for is a different question and insurance companies don't look at that.

Insome 16-04-2010 12:37 PM

RAC tried pulling the, your car has reduced in value to 12.4k to me about a week ago with '' agreed value'' after a half hour conversation was renewed back to 15k flat. Most of the time the ''agreed value'' they send you a letter for is just what they see it's agreed to via the reports they look at. If you don't agree with it, call them and argue your case, most times they'll either change the insured value to what you want, or closer to what your after.

Damn, shannons seems the best by far with everything including customer service, they ring you if you enter your number on the website, got called within 10 seconds. But apparently you have to have owned a turbo car for a minimum of 12 months which I haven't. :(

Called RAC and they asked my what I wanted it insured for... I said 15k and they said yep premium is 1800 a year with 1.1k excess. Can't be right though since when do you get to choose your amount covered?

Its called an 'agreed value', usually results in your premium being higher but oh well. RAC dont like heavily modified cars, but lightly modified ones are ok it seems

RAC wanted nothing to do with my car, even though i had a friend who worked there put through the quote...I wouldnt class it as heavily modified
