Default RAC insurance

No posts in this area?...

But thought this would be some useful info for young blokes.

I'm 23 and male, had my licence since 17 but obviously still in the danger bracket.

05 STI with a few mods most places wanted 2k +, cheapest I thought I found was AAMI at $1600 ($1850 or so total excess tho mind you) and was bout to buy it

Then I tried RAC,
$910 a year! Agreed value of 28k. Basic excess $450 + another $450 cos I'm 23 - $900 total which isn't so bad.

Just thought some of the younger folk may be interested .

Last time I checked, RAC won't cover any aftermarket modifications.
Factory was fine though.

There is an insurance thread here?!

Edit: check your PDS to see what they will or won't cover or alternatively check the site/give them a call to confirm.

I questioned that. Since I'm buying from a dealer they have stated whatever mods that are already on there are fine and I have listed them on the policy.

Not sure about further mods but I don't plan to change anything

There is an insurance thread.
You will find your premium will shoot up significantly next year at renewal. This is how they get your business. Also, if you're in Sorrento that is going to make a lot of difference to the premium as compared to say someone in Redcliffe, or Queens Park, or Armadale :P
Strubaru likes this.

^^ so true, although the price you pay for the premium will remain the same the value of what your car is insured for will drop significantly, then you'll call them upo to adjust it to correct value & your premium will go up, i had a big argument with them about it as i'd been insured with them for 20 years, then took my business to shannons

It's amazing how you pay more to insure a depreciating item. I questioned this with SGIO in the second year of owning the shopping trolley. The dickhead on the phone said something along the lines of "all sorts of factors... parts getting harder to get and more expensive should you need repairs, etc".

I LOL'd hard and said "really, acquiring spare parts for a 2-3 year old car becomes a problem?". Fucking idiot.
