Default My Intro

Hi all, I just recently sold my honda integra and got myself a MY01 WRX in WRC Blue GDA. Looking forward to bring my car down to barbagallos next month, and was wondering what the normal drill consists of ? What needs to be done ?

Also, i've noticed that my braking seems insufficient for the amount of power that my wrx makes. Other than that, the car is a huge jump from my 1.8L NA vtec..

Welcome

What mods are you running so we can help you decide upon other mods etc..

Oh yeah, feel free to post up some pics

Pretty sure you need a CAMS license to run at Barbs.

Will post up pics soon once i get my hands on a camera..

They hold up just fine. If anything make sure you have decent pad life in the brakes and flush your brake fluid.

Welcome. I had the same car (also stock) and did a number of track days with it. High temp brake fluid is a must. Brake pads also if your current ones have limited life left. I had no issues at Barbagallo but Collie was hard on the brakes. You'll also need a fire extinguisher mounted in the car to run at Barbagallo.

Hey all, this may be a little side track from an intro, but the car feels really sluggish under 2000rpm.. e.g. 5th Gear at 70km/hr .. the car feels like its gonna stall.. or really sluggish feeling.. I have to keep it at 4th gear 60-70km/hr... Is this a standard wrx thing ?

5th gear is a cruising gear mate. Don't expect it to pull really quickly when you put your foot down in 5th.

Sounds like its the lag of the turbo. Typically all turbo cars suffer from being in lag. Going from experience my car (although it had a bigger turbo then factory and a FMIC) at 70km/h in 5th mine will take a while to spool and hit boost at 3,033rpm. You can get 110km/h in second gear with a standard ratio my00 so judging by that it will take a while to get up exhaust gas to spool the turbo if you are in 5th.

I dont think you can compare it to a normal N/A car if you are attempting to either. From my understanding the compression on a turbo motor is signifigantly lower to compensate for the turbocharger (ratio of 7 for example). So off boost it will feel slower then a N/A car with a higher compression (ratio is 10 for example)
