G'day lads/ladettes... Bought a '12 WRX sedan stock standard in August and just had my eyes opened up to the online community in the past couple of weeks.
Now I've finally started to get the ball rolling with some mods in mind, starting with a turboback exhaust kit (XForce. Performance Mufflers, Exhaust Systems & Accessories. Impreza WRX/STi Sedan 2011~) [worth tuning straight away or wait until some more mods?]
Basically (meaning zero) have no previous car modding/mechanical knowledge so any advice would be helpful, thanks!

Nice ride dude, me rikey. Welcome

Somebody more knowledgeable than myself will be able to actually answer your tuning question but I think the consensus is that if you're going from the turbo back then it is best to get a tune done at the same time. (Where-as you can get away with a cat back and no tune?)

Welcome to PWRX! Nice car :D (I may be slightly biased)

If you get a turboback exhaust, may as well upgrade the fuel pump as well then get it tuned. The fuel pump isn't an absolute must, but it gives you a piece of mind.

I would suggest upgrading the suspensions first though! but that is just a personal preference.

Thanks mate!

Yeah it's touch and go with me getting the TBE installed next friday or at the start of the new year, all depending on how quickly the kit gets sent from over east so I'm holding off on booking the tune @ all stars malaga until it's definite.

Dougy runs a Spec C twin scroll with a turbo back exhaust with no tune... seems to go ok...

Cheers pal, yeah I was thinking I should probably do more and save a bit of coin with having to retune over and over... Any suggestions for fuel pump and who to go through with doing so? And suspension wise what would suggest? Also, I'd like to reiterate the fact that you guys are pretty much talking to a brick wall when it comes to this stuff aha cheers again!

The DeatschWerks - 65C is designed to be a direct drop in fuel pump that doesn't require any modification to fit.
And suspension wise what would suggest?
There are a few options:

lowering springs
coilovers (ie KW V3)
spring/strut combos (Bilstein/Koni RCE/HR/Eibach)
Most likely more options if you are willing to do the reading and look around.

Welcome to the madness that is Perth-WRX.

^WHS!

Can check out Soksta's driveway thread to get some ideas too.

and watch out for Soksta, he lurks in the shadows. If you want him to come out, just say something that would tingle his ears and he'd be out in no time! :D

His is also a 2lt and not a 2.5, I've personally never heard of any problems when fitting a tbe without a tune previously, except when the 2.5s came out and apparently their ecu's didn't like the extra air flow and went into limp mode etc.

Thanks for the prompt reply mate. With the fuel pump you suggested it says 08-10 and upon digging deeper I discovered Deatschwerks -65c 2008-2014 are both possible with the '12 engine?
