Finally Purchased A 2002 Sti After Lurking For Awhile

Good evening all. Just wanted to introduce myself. I've been a lurker on various Subaru forums for quite some time, and recently relocated from Canada to Hilbert - south of Perth. My FIL has wanted to purchase a project for quite some time, and we decided a bugeye STI would be a good starting point - EJ207, 6-speed etc. The goal is mid 12's, reliable, with great track manners. I hope we can do it. I'm relatively new to Subaru's, but have enjoyed playing around with a number of vehicles - including some E36 M3's, E30's, a C4 Corvette, and a 964 C4 Porsche (still own it - thankfully Aus accepted the import application!!)

So - hope to see you at some events. The car in question may be known by some of you: a completely stock 2002 White STI with highish kms (190k) in the Canning Vale area, but which seems to run very well and is pretty clean... and which was priced pretty aggressively, leaving room to catch up on deferred maintenance and eventually 'upgrades'.

Cheers,
Nathan JvD

Km are about right - national average is about 20 000 a year.

Nice pickup, welcome.. but Canada to here!

Nice, I think that's been for sale for a while. Also seen it in person around UWA, perhaps a lucky students car :p

I'm not sure why it was on the market for so long, to be honest. The seller was really willing to deal by the time we got there. A few items need to be addressed immediately (wheel bearings) but the price was significantly lower than some other STI's we viewed.

Nice sti man.. more expensive and bragging rights

Thanks Guys. I certainly didn't buy it for bragging or because it's more money - I figured it was the most cost effective way to hit my goals, especially at the price we arrived at.

I know I would have 'needed' a 6-speed swap at some point, as well as a bigger turbo, intercooler etc. I also wanted a new enough model that I could easily use the opensource tuning software. I've used standalones on other projects - I'm looking forward to tuning a factory computer!

To be honest, I'm de-badging it and removing the wing. I'm also thinking of refinishing the wheels in standard silver, and making it subtle as I can.
