My Frankenstein of a WRX
1 Attachment(s)
Hi everyone, my name's Tomi. I live in the Stirling area. My Impreza is quite a complicating one. In the past it has gone through a conversion of some sort. I didn't notice this when I bought it a year ago as I was only an L plater at the time. So, the VIN says its a 1993 LX but the engine is a pre-1996 WRX engine (no idea on the actual year so I'm just going to call it a 1994). There are some minor issues that I would like to fix up. One is the boost control setup. It has a MBC but still uses the factory solenoid (it shouldn't right?). The MBC's "bolt" has fallen out, so for now, i just have tape covering the hole. The highest boost I get to is about 5 psi (I did a search on this forum and found the factory boost level is 11 psi). I would really like to fix and clean up this setup I have here. I have attached an illustration of the current setup. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

It's set up correctly, it basically works as an adjustable olive/restrictor so you can change what the B/C sees, with the bolt missing it ot has no restriction which means it's probably running W/G pressure, just connect a new line from the 'T' piece to compressor with the right size restrictor pill.
Also I wouldn't be running the boost gauge from there, should be coming from the manifold. |
Damo69, I would if I have spare cash...
matto20v, Nah it is a 4 door. I will upload a picture of it soon. Okay so I read up on the "Restrictor Pill - What it is and why you need it" thread and for my engine it says "MY93-96 ... 3 port solenoid 2.0mm restrictor fitted into the vent pipe between solenoid lower port and intake". I'm pretty sure this is a different location to the one you (SL33P3R) said. Is either location okay? |

Cake is not a payment, it is a way of letting someone know that you really appreciate their help! |
