Back, and this time I brought custard!
Hi all,
I have been lurking the forum ever since I sold my gc8, trying to keep somewhat in the loop. I missed the car and driving experience a wrx brings ever since I sold it. I went through a few different cars but was never really happy. Recently sold my vx Clubsport, love high power rwd cars but the attention from the 5-0, and the fuel bill was a bit of a deterant. I also missed being a part of the community. I found this clean 02 wrx club spec and an exchange was made. Stock as a rock, had a fresh ej207 thrown in it. So happy days. No immediate plans as I'm still a poor uni student, but I'm not ignorant, so I'm aware it's only a matter of time before some grand idea pops in my head. Looking forward to being more active on the forums and attending some meets. Cheers, Joshiemitsu |

Thanks for the welcome back guys. I've got receipts for motor, was done at a reputable shop here in Perth, along with receipts for services. Im not sure why it was done, but the car checked out and appears to have been well maintained so I'm not complaining :) |
Welcome back
well done on picking up a clean looking bug |
Mustard**
Welcome!! |
Been driving it for a couple days now and it's great. Except the previous owner has fitted a wanky turbosmart BOV.
I have noticed that when driving conservatively (changing around 2.5-3k rpm) that there is an audible flutter (I assume this is compressor surge). However when driving more spiritedly and changing whilst on boost, there is no flutter- just the ppppsssssshhhhhhttttttt of the BOV. Could this be due to that fact the BOV is set so that it will only be opened when certain PSI's are reached, and that when driving conservatively it is remaining closed and causing the air to go back to turbo and cause surge? If this is likely the case I'll be removing it asap. |
Adjust your bov (loosen it) if you want to. Flutter at low boost will do no harm at all.

Thanks for the timely and helpful reply Rossco! I assume these BOVs are spring actuated and loosening it will just mean it fully opens under lower pressure? Ok cool, for some reason I was under the impression any compressor surge was bad and to be avoided? |
