Default newbie loss of cylinder one when car battery under load

hey all I have just joined the Subaru elite haha and therefore this forum and I am loving my new car. Though I am needing some help already. Any help will be so greatly appreciated its not funny. I have already been to see a mechanic and auto electrian and really want to know the best way to go about fixing my newly acquired pride and joy. Ok so its a Subaru liberty b4 twin turbo 2001. I purchased the car from a car dealer and he informed me that they ran a scan tool on it and it came back as a cam position sensor fault which I wasn't worried about because it was my bargaining tool to knock some money off the price so I immediately went and got a new cam sensor and installed it went to the mechanic and got the code cleared and apparently it has stayed cleared now but whenever I put either the a/c on or my headlights the check engine light illuminates periodically and the car starts running real rough. So have had an autoelectrian solder a new plug on for the cam positon sensor but this made no difference so his thoughts are there's either a fault with my ecu or a electrical fault somewhere. Just before I spend a fortune on working out exactly where this fault lies I wanted to talk to some other owners to find out if they have any ideas, suggestions or really any advise on the subject. Like I said all responses will be greatly appreciated. Thanking everyone in advance

Have you checked to see what error code it is throwing now that you have eliminated the cam sensor.

Run an extra Earth between the motor & chassis (Or motor & battery) - it's an earth return issue.

Like the red cable in this pic:

Have seen this before on a B4, would jump start the car and it would run fine but as soon as you take the leads off it would run like shit again. Tried adding earth wires and all other sorts of things even a brand new battery, but it turned out to be a shitty alternator.

Hey thanks for the input have checked the alternator and its working perfectly 14 volts. Hooked up an extra earth as suggested by rossco but didn't make any difference. Took the car to Subaru today and they said its going to be a long process of elimination and suggested that I first replace the coil packs and if that doesn't work then to check the timing isn't slightly out because it was showing 2 codes on there machine which were cam position circut a and coil main/ secondary circut problem. What do you guys think?

I wouldn't take it to Subaru unless you want to be raped in repair costs, jump on rexnet and see if there are any
Suabru specialist workshops near where you live
