Yeah Russ, you're definitely right in regards to the pads etc etc. My mind was in the gutter, the gutter of making more hp

slowly moving along now and have changed the air filter to an apexi panel filter, installed a front strut bar, did an intercooler flush and installed a boost gauge (not sure whats standard but boosting 11psi)

I am now looking at getting new tyres and rims, my budget is around 2k.
looking at getting 17x7.5 running 215/45 17 tyres.

I am having trouble finding a supplier that stocks a good variety 17x7.5 wheels. any advice would be great.

cheers,

Jack

On a budget you can't go past some later model WRX wheels ($150 - $300), get them sprayed / powder-coated ($150 - $400) and then the rest on tyres.

currently looking at getting some rota g force but the au website only advertises 17x8 but the us site has 17x7.5. I think the offset is +44. Im not keen of rolling any guards

the tyres im looking at getting are achilles atr sport2 have been recommended them as they perform similar to the potenza re003 but at a lower price.

Try to use the Aus site (Buy ROTA Wheels Online (Official Australian Distributor) | ROTA Wheels Australia) because this is what Wei (Vision R) stocks in Perth. As far as rolling guards you only have to if your low for extra insurance and if you have to it's pretty cheap to get done.

This is 17x7.5 +44 for size reference:

I had a set of Titans on my Golf, the biggest bonus was in ALL the sizes it has a flat (slight concave) rim face. Unlike the G-Force where in the smaller sizes the spokes protrude past the rim face which looks crap in my opinion. A more important bonus is that the Titans are one of the lightest wheels that Rota makes.

These are 17x8 +42 Titans:

Hmmm, you are right the g forces do protrude, i never noticed this before!!!
The Titans were my second preference, i will enquire if they can get them in 7.5. otherwise i may have to roll the guards

appreciate the advice!!!

The 17x8 +42 is the same size Jacob (REXXED 2.0) has and the clearance really isn't that close. His issues is the 235/45R17 tyres which bulge slightly past the rim face.

If he had a 225/45R17 the tyre wall would be flat with rim face there would be more clearance and he might not have needed the roll (although I would rather spend $132 then heard the sound of rubbing tyres).

Also depends on ride height, because stock height should not cause any rubbing unless you need 250KG of cement from bunnings. If you are on a lowered spring (10mm - 15mm) You still should be fine, but past that point you will be getting close to the guards when the suspension compresses.

Did I read up there that your WRX is only making 11psi?

Standard is 14-ish, there's horsepower for you to gain if you can get this sorted.
