Red face New wrx owner needing some advice

Hi i have just 3 months ago brought a 1999 wrx sti that was a right off had been rolled over we have been restoring it for auto cross So my question is it has a key pad on the dash and the guy we brought it off he told us how to start it when we have had the battery out ect press a number and do the battery thing and it started the problem is we were taken the battery in and out of the car several times now the car wont start i have been told that its emoblized its self and need to be taken back to dealer to get it reset is this good advice and also i live near melbourne not sure where to find a dealer any advice would be great name of or phone numder for dealership i know this sounds a bit stuipd but we dident get any service books with it due to it being a write off cheers
