Hi all,

Been trolling the forums for a while but never really posted anything.

Bought a 99 WRX GC8 about 5 months ago and absolutely loving it!!!

its fully unmodified stock standard, but looking to put a few passive mods on it in the near future.

Im interested in doing a few mods too the car but nothing over the top, I welcome any suggestions of must haves for my car.

cheers,

Jack

Welcome aboard. There are lots of Jacks on here.

My first suggested modification would be to rotate the car 90 degrees clockwise to minimize neck strain.

Welcome. Unmolested GC8s are like rockinghorse shit.
Mods? Would be really tempting to leave it alone.

The temptation to mod normally wins over the temptation to leave things stock :)

Bang-for-$$$$ modss;
- decent catback with an oval muffler (for a subtle exhaust note) or cannon (for RJ levels of noise)
- lowered sports springs (20 - 25mm lower looks nice on a GC8). Reduce the altitude to increase the attitude.

Mods to maybe avoid:
- loud BOV. Unless it pumps back into the intake it can make the car a little rough between gears, plus the stereotypical PSSSSSSSSSH is not subtle.
- hot air intakes. Putting a pod filter where your airbox is will likely make your turbo induction noise louder while the car may actually run worse sucking in all that hot air.

Welcome Jack, looks to be a nice unmolested GC8 you have yourself there. A bit of a rarer sight these days.

Good mods outlined above, a nice exhaust and little lowering would go well. Check out some other build threads here if you feel like throwing a house deposit away on mods :p

Hi Jack.
When asking for advice on mods remember this is mainly a modding forum.
For example my list of mods and accessories takes up a page on the insurance form. The usual advice is to say do it, (so the rest of us can learn from your experience)
Anyway, despite the above, I'd say wait until you have an idea of what more you want from the car. It could be more quietness, more comfort, more acceleration, top speed, easy to drive in traffic, fun on twisties, more neons and under-vehicle lighting, chromed rims, traffic light hero, a louder boomier sound system, etc .
Warning- doing some of the above will get you seriously flamed!
