2011 wrx white smoke lack of power

Hi all,
I'm not mechanically minded so bare with me.
I have a 2011 WRX with no mods. Car has 91k.
Recently noticed white smoke from exhaust starting 30 secs after start up, and slightly smoking there after. I also feel the car is slightly lacking boost.

A call to a dealer says he believes it be a problem with IC, and a second opinion from a mechanic suggests it to be a blown head gasket.
Is it true this is common in this vehicle and nonetheless, does the above diagnosis seem to be correct?

Rebuild time. Yes, I am not a mechanic.

Invisible $20 on ring land.
if so, rebuild time.

+1 not a mechanic.

Go to a mechanic and get a sniff test done to confirm head gasket. When you pull up at home, pop the bonnet and keep an eye on your coolant overflow bottle. Does it bubble like a champagne bottle?

+2 not a mechanic.

Not IC, but could be rings, head gasket or just the turbo itself.
Get it sussed out soon by a good independent Subi specialist.

Check your coolant and oil levels over the coming week. If either of these levels start dropping you may a problem. I'd also get a pressure test and leak down test done. I got both tests done at STechnic and also asked them to check for any boost leaks.

Keep us posted as to the outcome.

Loads of people willing to help but sadly a forum diagnosis is hard for any of us. As others have advised an independent Subaru specialist is the go and STECHNIC or MAXIMUM MOTORSPORT are a good start.

Thank you all,
will have diagnoses done on Sunday..will keep posted....

Just as a matter of interest, as opposed to all the suggestions of 'rebuild' in the worst case scenario, what could be the best case scenario in lieu of what I posted?

AWDmoke 17-06-2017 10:44 PM

Best case scenario is that it just needs a can of upper engine cleaner to remove oil buildup in the intake, and it's not down on power because you've just gotten used to it.

Internet doctor ftw!

1 ltr of lifter free in the oil and drive it

Possable ring land failure but do this first
