QLD for a year turned into a permanent move, the process of transporting and registering GTR to QLD got too much and I didn't want a trailer queen so I moved it on after a long and tedious sales process I got what I wanted. There are heaps of events on in QLD literally 4 or 5 good events a month + things like Noosa hillclimb etc and it was killing me being on the sidelines.

The vibe of the GTR was always heading towards moving on, I wanted to do more rallysprint style events, and the fear of nudging a wall etc in a GTR has a huge repair cost compared to the average GC8 so the idea has been floating around for a while.

Ideally a GC8 207 + DCCD 6 Speed was what I was chasing.

After a long look, I came across this in NSW.

2000 model MY00 GC8
555 seats front and rear (inc lightweight “frameless” rear seat.)
2006 JDM STI running gear, complete from flywheel to wheels diffs, shafts, brakes (all had approx 60,000kms when fitted)

2005 WRX STI

I assumed those intercooler pipes were hard, but nope silicone so slotted a fender filter in which will remain in place and diverted the air intake under the silicone hoses.

got rego today, it is an absolute hoot to drive

Has a dyno sheet for 232awkw in the car, last STI was 190 odd kw, don't think its that much quicker but definitely good fun. Will see what it spins up when it goes in for a looksy and E85 tune

Hey gay boys*

Its been a while between updates, but you know alot happens when you are playing with cars!*

So I got it regod rather easily and set about setting it up for some local motorsport event, great thing about Queensland is a company called skid control runs about 4 events a weekend (skids pans, motorkhanas, rally sprints etc) and then there is Queensland raceway has frequent track days, time attack, MG hill climb circuit, mount cotton hill climb, noosa hill climb, gold rush hill climb and look im just flexing on the amount of motorsport that occurs in QLD on a weekly basis.**

I dropped the car initially to a well known subaru specialist in brisbane, it was decided best thing to do is remove engine and do all seals and gaskets, timing belt, water pump etc* they also fitted the project Mu discs, RSL29 pads, fitted the braided lines.

Rebuilt the steering rack and fitted a new direct clutch clutch.*

Although the work they did was fine and reasonably priced they were super hesitant to come on a motorsport journey i.e.*
"your clutch is cooked need a new one"*
"what do you recommend"**
"look for motorsport its best you do your own research"

Oh ok*

Repeat for every single item that needed to be replaced, isnt the kind of relationship I am after, but obviously someone has burnt them hard once upon a time.*

Dropped the car to MCA motorsport in Brisbane and they fitted some MCA Reds, wheel aligned and corner weighted the car.*

Dropped the car to SMW Tuning / Empire Performance and Wiring and the fun really began*

Entire wiring of the car was bin, an old haltech platinum was running everything and I wanted to updated to a new link. So after tidying up the birds nest under the passenger seat, underthe bonnet and in the boot a link G4+ was fitted.
New fuel system, pumps warlbro 460, turbosmart FRP, fuel rails, raceworks surge tank, raceworks lines front to back, injector 1050x fitted to suit E85*
Fitted a new haltech dash as it had an old AIM dash in it that was shit.*
New cam, crank, oil temp, oil pressure sensors all wired in and linked to ecu*
Then found that the haltech was jerry rigged to run the DCCD, que the worlds longest wait for the DCCD pro to arrive*

After that it was run up on the dyno and struggled to make more than 220kw at up to 24psi of boost?? And missing at around 20psi*

Problem found on the last day before christmas closure and tuner was going to italy for 2 months*

Shit*

Anyway, so drive it around at like ~180kw on 16psi for 2 months, didnt do any events just spirited drives in the hills around brissie. Mount nebo night raids etc during this time I found the car had terrible temperature control.*


Once tuner was back and everyone was ready to go,*

Fitted Killer B Baffled sump*
Fitted twin maradyne fans*
Fitted oil cooler*
Fitted catch can
Fitted AGI bolt in roll cage*
Fitted some AD09s*
Fitted Velo seat & Scroth harness*
I bought into the Buckey Lasek Gimmick and grabbed a rear seat delete kit as the cage takes room for rear passengers, it is an OK piece of kit however was exxy due to USD and it wasnt in stock and waited about 3 months for it.
Found issue in the head, a few valves were tipped and not sealing (no engine damage) and alot of the seats werent happy with life. Sent heads off to get a basic birthday and reinstalled with new valve springs, valves and same cams (they are non vct heads and end game is to go vct head swap once I eventually build an engine for it)**

Ended up spinning up 250.4kw atw on 22psi, with 19 during the mid range to keep it together**

From then I entered the local rallysprint, which although isnt as competitive as the WA is still great fun*
Also did a skid pan day and some hills runs*
Car has been flawless since it has been completed and the most fun car I have had to smash about in rally sprint and skid pans etc.*

Future plans*
Fit hydraulic handbrake*
Fit Stedi light to the grille*
Fit passenger Velo and Scroth*

Track it until it dies before going full autismo on the engine*

Yes*
The intercooler piping is especially heineous its an old APS kit, will replace when I do the engine*
