Thumbs up Hi from Darwin

Hi I've been a lurker on this forum for a little over a year.

I am moving to Perth in January next year and bringing along my MY04 WRX. Mods are pretty mild for now, basically defi gauges and suspension mods (DMS coilovers & Cusco lower H-brace). Looking to complete my suspension mods and stereo and taking it to the track for some fun and to learn better car control. Then I will move on to the engine and brakes.

Looking at places to live, is there any suburbs I should steer clear off? Should I be looking for a place with a lock-up garage as I will be leaving my car at home all day and catching public transport to work.

Hope to meet some of you guys and girls in the near future and join you on some cruises.

Links from a Darwin meet last year.

Cheers
Michael

welcome, yeah north of the river for sure!

Plenty of public transport running north, and get a lock up garage so no one can see your car from the road

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

I did an 11 month stint in Perth (2003-2004) and I will definetly be living north of the river. Most of my friends are in the City of Vincent and Stirling.

I'm a bit spoilt being a Darwinite, as things are no more than 15 mins by car. So I prefer living closer to the city.

My first impression last time I was living in Perth was a vectra with 18 or 19" rims being left on bricks in my unit complex in West Perth. So I am a little paranoid about leaving my car in an open carport all day. Also a friends, collegues commodore got stolen from a secure carpark in Mount Street.

I'll think about organising a house warming as soon as I get settled.

Cheers
Michael

Welcome.

South Perth FTW, central and nothing is too far.

(everybody is gonna promote their own suburb, so dont listen to any of us).

Jans right, South Perth is ok, but if you want a nice area with good houses and people around, you cant beat west of the freeway and the stretch between Floreat and Kallaroo. Hillarys is nice, Pabury and Duncraig are pretty low key, laid back places, Sorrento is the same as is Watermans et al!

Your also only 10-15min from the city!

Avoid Balga, Mirrabooka, Westminster, gosnells, clarkson, merriwa and stuff. Lots of trouble.

10-15min from the city during what time of day mat? =)
I'm a big fan of the area i am in at the moment, yokine, mt hawthorn, joondana etc for being nice and close to things. but most of the suburbs listed will be tops
