KiDo Racing High Performance Brake Kits - Fitting and prices

KiDo Racing Brake Kits are manufactured in Taiwan to a race proven design. Attention to detail and careful selection of materials ensure optimal performance under all conditions. Each kit is tailored to suit a specific model of car and comes complete with all hardware required to fit the kit. You will need to supply your own tools and DOT4 or better brake fluid. The manufacturing plant is ISO 9001 certified for quality assurance, and all Brake Kits purchased through KiDo in Australia are covered by a 6 month warranty on calipers and 3 months on rotors.

How do these compare against OEM Brembo's? Have you run any tests we could be privvy to?

*Genuine enquiry as a WRX owner considering an upgrade*

I really wish I had some hard data to provide. I have tried to organise some brake testing to compare KiDo with the STI Brembo but so far there have been to many problems. Stupid things like getting 3 of the same cars together in the same place, one with stock WRX brakes, one with Brembos and one with KiDo brakes.

Even then, what do I compare, the Kido 330x25mm rotor with a 6 pot caliper (just a little bigger than the Brembo) or the 330x32mm or the 356x32mm and do I then drop an 8 pot caliper on it? Note I haven't even considered the rear end which gets even more complex.

Something which might help down the track is the WRX KiDo is sponsoring in Targa Tasmania next April. It is running mid6 pot front and 4 pot rear calipers on 325x25mm front rotors and 300mm rears.
It also has 4 wheel digital brake temperature display.

If you send me a kit over I'll be more than happy to test! ;)

In all seriousness, I can appreciate it is a difficult thing to test, and even under the best conditions the critics would still find a flaw in the methodology. It will be interesting to see how it performs in Targa Tas next year though.

No Problem! Just drop some cash in my account and I'll send you a kit ;)

The major flaw would be the lack of independence in the testing. People would immediately conclude that the testing was rigged to provide the desired outcome.

Mythbusters?

mARC 10-10-2012 10:44 AM

The manufacturer hasn't performed any cross comparisons for promotional purposes 'sure its debatable but carried on by companies world wide, and the results would quite probably be argued by competitors if the information is deemed incorrect, giving the validity you desire', and you're unable to properly secure items for testing?

Are you stating that the exact same brake package you're selling will be used in said Targa vehicle?

RUSSGT 10-10-2012 11:25 AM

What categegory will the Kido WRX be running in? I would have thought big brakes like that wouldnt be CAMS standard.

Have these been road tuned. :p
