Default Link vs Power Fc

A dude on rexnet is selling Link for $550 which is lower than a 2nd hand power fc...

http://www.rexnet.com.au/forum/index...howtopic=77904

anyhow, on the top of that what else needs to be bought

1) link needs a MAP sensor AFAIK, how much??

2) power fc needs (doesnt need it but its well adviced) a z32 AFM, how much??

3) Can ASG tune link? if so how much?? (power fc install and tune was around $600 AFAIK)

Which one would perform better (idling, cold starts, a/c idle). Im not after big numbers but something fairly safe. I'd add a new turbo to that list - one of the vf series.

From almost all accounts Power FC out does Link (basic models) with its extra tuning capabilities (ie, more cells etc), simply a more refined ecu.

z32 afm around the $250 - $300 mark.

Link does not need a replacement MAP sensor.

I'd choose the PFC.

The are both Plug N Tune ECU's. Piss easy to install - you only really pay for the tune.

1) If your looking at a Possumlink for your 99/00 WRX/STi you want the one with the Q or R Spec written on the socketed main chip, it has good idle and extra resolution compared to earlier Possumlinks.

2) The Link will be tuned via MAP, the AFM is ditched all together. No extra sensors needed at all. WRX already has a MAP sensor. Hello Oiled Pod filter if you want that!!!

3) Cold start, air con. All function normally with correct tuning. Idle can also be tuned correctly if you know what your doing on the Link.

4) Don't bother with Anti-Lag on the Links. You loose too much resolution in the maps with the Anti-Lag and its not worth the effort.

5) The Power FC advantage is that you also get that good hand controller to monitor everything. It will cost you an extra $550-$650 over the Link to get reliability with an oiled filter and the Power FC by the time you get the Z32 AFM.

6) I'm confident Sean at ASG could get similar results with either ECU. Leigh at RMS is also a guru with the Possumlink so you could shop around if you wish.

Standard airbox / standard dry filter with standard cleaned Subi AFM will work perfectly well with the Power FC. Stay away from oiled filters and you will have reliability.
Just get a Silicon Intake in either case for better throttle response tho.

Cheers for the info fellas...

One thing that I'd really be interested is:

-safety - due to running advanced timing/more boost i reckon the 99/00 AFM has to be resolved. I'm running OEM filter + box but z32 AFM go for $200-$300 2nd hand.

-oem functions-there is nothing more annoying that sitting at the lights with a rough idle. Ive been in my mates Link my99 and his idle is shocking. Probably due to the tuner but since PFC has more cells/better resolution, then a tuner can achieve a better result and that's what i'd be after

Only reason i went a Link over powerFC is because i didnt want the dodge 99/00 afm!

Cant really complain about the link drives well is stable and reliable and has produced results pretty happy with it btw mine is the one with extra resoulution.

i had a powerfc in my gc8... was great... started first click evertime...

the only thing i was to complain about is throttle response.. there was a fair delay that was not present when i had the standard ecu (i also had a silicon intake)

i am not sure if this is the case with all wrx powerfc's or just the tune
