Summer 2010/2011 - Speedaware Twilight Rallysprint Series

Media Release:

A new Rallysprint Series was announced today to run over the summer at Perth Motorplex. The Speedaware Twilight Rallysprint will be run over four Thursday evenings. Trial events were held last summer and were proven to be very popular and the limit of 60 competitors is expected to fill very quickly.

With the popularity of other sports that are run after work taking advantage of Perth’s balmy summer evenings, now the rally fraternity can join them. The Perth Motorplex is just 30 minutes south of Perth and provides an excellent facility to run Rallysprint’s with a challenging combination of roads, car parks and drag strip.

The 3.50km course will be run four times on each evening. Crews will have the opportunity to pace note the event prior to the 6.30pm start time. “Drivers can also have different co-drivers on each run providing an opportunity for sponsors, supporters and potential new co-drivers to experience the thrill of rallying” event organiser Dieter Von Mollendorf said.

“With the increased popularity of tarmac rallying, these events are an ideal opportunity for new crews to gain experience and experienced crews to keep their hand in and have some fun over the summer months.”

Speedaware Director, Rohan Green, was excited about being able to assist a new Rallysprint Series and said “Speedaware are always keen to support events where drivers have the opportunity to improve their driving skills in a safe and enjoyable location.” Fellow Speedaware Director, Alistair McRae will attend events when in town and will drive the Zero Car and provide driving tips.

The Speedaware Twilight Rallysprint’s will run on Thursday evenings, 11 November, 16 December, 20 January and 24 February.

Event Regulations and Entry Forms will soon be on the Speedaware website, www.speedaware.com.au . Entries Close for Round 1 on Monday 8th November.

Get onto it Jme, this is by far some of the most fun events you can do!

It also runs really well with a car leaving the startline every 30 seconds!!

You also need a co-driver, which means you can take someone for a ride :)
