100% FREE Motorkhana Come & Try @ RAC skidpans - Sunday 19th Feb

You can't get any more free than 100% and that's how free this event is.

To aid in attracting new people to the sport of motorkhana, all costs for this event will be bankrolled by the Mini Car Club and CAMS. This includes the usual entry fee AND the cost of the appropriate one-day Level 1 CAMS licence if you don't already have a full yearly one (please bring your own of you alredy have one).
Basically you are paying for the fuel you use. Can't ask much more than that.

The even will be held on Sunday February 19th at 10am at the RAC Driver Training Centre skid pans, near the airport. Please rock up at 9:15 or before as we need to scruitineer you, get your forms signed off and then do a drivers briefing.

This is a Come and Try / Beginners' Motorkhana day with multiple courses set up. The tests used are aimed to have as little impact as possible on the drive train. You can use handbrake if you want; you can get by if you don't.

I'll have a couple of GoPro cameras there to film people / stick on your car to capture your runs and skids.

We will also have a few experienced competitors there (and me - LOLz) to pop in the car with you for your first run to give you the low-down on how to get the most out of your car for this kind of stuff. After the first run you're free to go out on your own - just like if you you do a skidpan day.

WHAT YOU NEED:
Seatbelts, enclosed shoes. Thats it. You don't need long sleeves, helmets, fire extinguishers etc. You can turn up in a bunky. If it stops and steers, you can run it.

You can rock up and enter on the day if you want. But to save some time and effort, it's recommended that you print of an entry form and fill it out before hand.

See ya there!

Sounds awesome but will the course layouts be more like regular skid pan days or mostly like what's in that video?

Cos there was a lot of handbraking in that video :)

Def keen on something like this. Have never tried my car at any events so this is a very good excuse to!

"Will this lever activate fun?"
"Yes."
"Ok I'll avoid it then."
No course absolutely requires HB but it's a lot more fun if you use it.
This is quite literally the best environment and situation to give it a try if you've (i'm talking generally here) never used it before or are uncomfortable with it.

Courses are half a skidpan long and use only 1st gear. There are two courses per skidpan and possibly both of the pans will be in operation on the day, giving people plenty of opportunity. Courses are also likely to be changed a few hours through so that there's lots of variety

Cars will be scrutinised mate, pretty Sure inspectors will say no to bold ones. ;) I could be wrong tho

Will hopefully make this, keen for a fun day!:D

I'm not going to tell you what at they will pass and what they won't (in terms of tyres), but I've run some questionable tyres before. I imagine a lot of competitors have.
Just remember that they have to last the day...
