Default What do i need to race?

Ok so i want to start doing some of the rally sprints and no limit nights. Ive done abit of research and am struggling to find any of the answers i require. Straight to the point.

- What helmet do i need and what rating does it have to exceed?
- What safety equipment do i need in my car?
- What cams lisence will cover both events?
- Will neons make me faster?

Tony

Not much good at researching then are you? Supp regs tell you everything you need to comply to.....

Rallysprint: https://docs.google.com/a/rallysprin...RiZDE3Mg&pli=1

No Limits: No Limits Car Club: 2013 Event Dates and Details

CAMS NCR: http://www.camsmanual.com.au/pdf/11_...NCR_2013-1.pdf

Haha sometimes those supp regs are overwhelming for a beginner...

Rallysprint is done for this series but for No Limits:

- Just go into any helmet store in Perth like the Helmet House in Vic Park and tell them what you want the helmet for. They should be able to hook you up with a compliant helmet. I can't remember the exact code but it's AS/NZ something something...

- Need at least 1x 1KG Tagged fire extinguisher bolted in place.

- 1x Blue triangle battery indicator.

- Cams L2S. Also need to be a member of a Cams affiliated car club, which No Limits is.

Have fun mate!

Next RallySprint wont be until mid-year.
For Rally Sprint you need...
  • Helmet compliant to AS 1698 or better,
  • 2kgs of fire extinguisher. (this can be 2x 1kg extinguishers),
  • 2x reflective triangles,
  • First Aid Kit,
  • Battery Location Triangle,
  • CAMS L2S licence and CAMS affiliated car club membership,
  • Non-flammable apparel covering the body from ankles, to neck, to wrists with closed footwear.
  • a codriver.

Ahh sweet thanks for that. Never had anything to do with car racing so finding all the info is proving difficult. Maybe this should be stickied?

The above will see you good for RallySprint, No Limits, Club Level events, Speed Event Series.

Most cases you'll be exceeding the minimum requirements, eg most only require 1kg fire extinguisher, no reflective triangles, and a first aid kit (Cams), but if you do have an issue you'll be a bit better off, 1kg extinguisher does little, triangles weigh bugger all, and we should all have a first aid kit.

Have you done any skidpan sessions?
If not, that is a good place to start to learn how the car will behave and react in a place where there is nothing really to hit.

I wouldn't tackle rallysprinting until you have done some of these.
There is plenty to hit and it doesn't take much of a mistake to end badly.
Go on, ask me how I know.

No Limits nights are good to receive some tuition as well, but it is reasonably high speed.

Yep agreed ^

Personally I didn't do any competitive events until after 10+ skidpan/ tuning arvo days...

Yeah get on a skidpan or tuning day, I learnt so much about how my car reacts when driving on it over the limit and had an absolute ball.
