Rental rally car can be arranged Alex. It's not a cheap prospect though.

Probably a cheaper option than transporting a vehicle from the east coast for the event :) |

Unlikely.... A top group n car (and just the car. ie. no tyres, entry fees, fuel, service crew etc) in Europe is circa 100 euro / special stage km. I.e. Targa west would be nearly 20 000 euro just to hire the car. Plus testing etc. Ball park figure has always been 25% of the value of the car per event. And that assumes you don't hit anything! haha well, compared with a blown up engine as the result of the last transport company, id probably be happier to spend the money rather than lose it.
Funny enough, 20,000EURO is about equivalent. :) Anyways.. looking forward to the event. I fly to Perth today! :) :) [QUOTE=urabus;765065]Unlikely.... Non driver is the only way I would transport my race cars now. Too much at stake to get to the other end and find engine / clutch has been raped.

I agree however I sent the last one over as a runner as it was getting a new clutch before Tassie and also Seatrans (melb - launcest) will only take runners. I also put a note on the dash that with the k's and a reminder that the ecu records both revs and speed and neither of us needed the trouble of a claim. I don't know if it made any difference but the car seemed fine when it arrived. Brendon |
The problem with Elliot's engine wasn't through abuse it was through neglect.
They left the car in gear during transport and it jumped the cambelt when it was shunting back and forth on the train. They managed to start the car but instead of realising something was wrong and shutting down they must have kept on going until all valves, all the pistons, the rods, split the bores and smashed the turbo. I've never seen such destruction even in a racing engine blow up. I thought rally car leasing was ~ 10 -15% of the value of the car + consumables. |
What a shame. Was really looking forward to the John Forrest stage. Nice and close to home.

Hey all, i am going to be there as part of the media team. I am setting up a hd camera at various locations.
I am looking to the drivers and co-drivers as some good high speed spots along the rally routes, or even some exciting spots to film. Any help would be good. Thanks all for your input. James Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD |
James. Every spot is a good spot from the drivers seat!
For ZigZag you will need to take the event bus, but you could get some good positions looking down the hill. Kalamunda - has some big speed straights at 200km/h. Bullsbrook Long tends to have lots of spectator points at roundabouts. Timberdon has some good photographic spots. Most of these stages you can pick some good locations, but you will be stuck there for the duration |
