OBD2 broken wire
Hi
Had a google for the wiring diagram but had no luck with what I'm after. I have an ECUDatascan and am getting an error, forgetting the actual wording, the cable is not connected. First plan was to send the cable back, but a hacker has gotten to the ECUDatascan web page before I got the address. Rather than buy one on fleabay, I thought I would have look at it at work, as I should have done in the first place. Inside the plug (the big bit) there are 2 small boards. One has a "fly" lead that connects from one side of the board (next to 4 pins) to the other 6 pins. The 4 pin side is connected, the other side is not. What I require to fix this is for someone to undo the 4 phillips head screws and tell me which pin the fly connects to. In my plug this is a purple wire. From the OBDII plug pin end it looks like its the 3rd pin (not the end that the cable connects) Your help would be appreciated so I don't connect the fly to the wrong pin and let the smoke out. Cheers Tim |
I've got a couple spare cable/units at home and can check for you when I get back later on this afternoon.
Will try and get this done when I head back home for lunch today. |

Tim, hoping that these help.
If they don't help, let me know which area on the board you want a closer look at and I can take some more (hopefully more useful/helpful) photos. |

They are nice and clear and show the part I'm interested, except yours doesn't have the fly in there at all. :( Maybe mine had a defective track and its a repaired jobbie. The wire in question goes from the hole in the top board imediatley behind the LED and crosses over the board round the capacitors is is really only long enough to reach 2 pins. Will pull the boards appart further. Thanks and Cheers Tim |
I have one cable that came back as a repaired unit, I'll locate it tonight when I get home and see if I can find what you have described above.
If you can't get this unit fixed or get in contact with Darren, I'm happy to lend you one of my spare cables until a time that yours has been replaced or repaired. Let me know if this is suitable and I'll try and pass the cable off to some one who will be going down to Collie this weekend. |

Thanks, I'll see what Soska finds out tonight. If its a simple solder, then I can do that, otherwise I'll email Darren.

Sorry Tim but it appears that mine was replaced, not repaired. Offer still stands if you need one to borrow for a while. |
