VAGCOM cable and MY99/00 GC8
 

Has anyone had success with a VAGCOM cable on a MY99/00 GC8? I'm looking to get some logging going from the factory ECU.

Whilst the GC8 doesnt support OBD2, various websites suggest it does support "K bus", which this VAGCOM cable makes mention of.

Would prefer to only hear from people who have tried and either got it working, or got no result at all, please.

If no one here has tried this, I will post back with my results when the cable arrives.

Hey. Check out Eculabs. I only just came across it but it appears to offer everything that Ecutek has but for EUR250. Even works on 98 and 99 wrx supposedly and can do flex fuel and launch control.

Yes, it worked! The VAG-COM cable and ECU Explorer (free software on the net). It's for monitoring only, can't write/flash the ECU, but you can monitor all sorts of parameters. TPS voltage, AFM voltage, injector duty cycle, battery voltage, air intake temp (for STI), and so on and so on.

I'll have to try ECULabs as Brett suggested ^^

ECUExplorer also shows stored check engine codes (and the meaning of the codes), and you can re-set the ECU to clear all codes and re-learn from scratch (reset Ignition Advance Multiplier).

Also does logging, but I haven't looked at this yet.

I highly recommend it for owners of MY99/00 GC8's.
