In addition to boost gauge, what other...

I'm after genuine recommendations on what gauges to purchase in addition to boost pressure. There are another 2 slots to fill in my tri-gauge holder:

- Exhuast temp
- Water temp
- Oil pressure
- Oil temp
- Fuel pressure

???

What is most useful?

Thanks for your advice.

Cheers.
Ed

Oil Pressure

Hi_VoLtAgE 28-02-2007 03:26 PM

oil pressure, exhaust temp.

ImPreSiV 28-02-2007 03:28 PM

Oil Pressure, Oil Temp

Just to be different from above ^^

Monster Tacho :D

Seriously, IMO, Oil and Fuel Pressure, followed by Oil and Water Temp....

Oil Pressure......

Can't you just use 2 gauges and then use the 3rd slot as a cup holder ?

EVL WRX 28-02-2007 03:46 PM

Move the boost gauge onto the A pillar, and stick Oil Press, Fuel Press and Oil Temp in the holder....

in terms of 2-3 gauges, does a low-mildly modded car 'need' the same gauges as one with a bit more mods?

Any car can lose oil/fuel pressure and overheat oil/water, having gauges (especially one's with warning lights/buzzers) can help spot it and you can shut down before it's terminal. They become more important the more you modify and lean on the cars components.

My 2c..

Does the standard engine temp meter void the need of having an aftermarket water temp gauge? Aren't they pretty much the same?

EVL WRX 28-02-2007 04:08 PM

Example, on my old GTR, I had a Power FC which displayed water temp. The needle on the stock gauge didn't move until the water temp got to about 60 degrees, and when it was up to temp the PFC could show a 10 degree difference and the stock gauge looked like it didn't move (or it moved so little it didn't help).

IMO the stock water temp gauges are not accurate enough for full reliance on them..

Fair enough, understood.

I have boost and oil pressure gauges on the wrx but i think that if oil pressure suddenly drops, its still going to be to late by the time i notice the gauge (esp if going fast and paying attention to the road / track / other cars) and shut the car off.

But that said, i got them cause they match the interior / dash :D

If it was me, i'd go oil pressure and exhaust temp though! 3 matching gauges would look good!

I like my oil temp, lets me know when car is upto operating temp and warns about overall motor temp as well.....

Delta Dash ftw! 25+ Readings, its not messy and wont attract attention from the cops.

I have boost and exh. thought along the same lines as Mat, if oil pr. drops will most likely be too late.

Each to their own however.
