NIce figures tode.....joe is correct its tractive effort......i remember seeing a certain 200sx with massive turbo several years ago pulling 1200nm.....tractive effort. Either way as with all dyno's a before and after on the same dyno is the only way to compare. 1.8bar of boost on a nice size turbo is going to run good numbers no doubt. When the surging is sorted it'll run its mph and put testimony to its hp figures.

thanks. how does tractive effort relate to the actual torque at the wheels?

The tractive effort is obtained by multiplying the torque by the total ratio of power train and dividing this sum by the rolling radius of the driving tyres.

nice work Tode, bet it feels rapid. A few questions.
Do you run 1.8 bar all the time on U98? Is it still holding 1.8bar to redline? do you have an external wastegate? How high do you rev it, whats the limiter set at and when does it hit 1.8bar, say when you floor it in 5th? go the 207. what a motor. just add fuel and boost

thanks pete
yes it runs 1.8 full time. (95% of the time I drive on minimal boost - so why not ) though im noticing a slight drop in boost around 6k then goes back up to 1.8, it did this last time as well - not sure why. it goes 1.8 till redline. Im running the Fp internal gate - but its been ported on the inside. I rev till the limiter. in 4th gear - (since i have no boost plots yet) its seems its hitting 1.8 before 5k. (fixed the leaks) in 5th gear - its around 4k. Last edited by waxdass; 19-10-2006 at 10:47 AM. |

Judging by the power curve its not holding 1.8bar to redline..... If it is not able to hold full boost to redline then an external gate with screamer pipe would probably extend the max power figure for 500-1000rpm by reducing backpressure. My car has a similar curve.... peaks at 5500ish and then drops away at a steady rate. You can see in the bottom graph the boost is not holding up.. it drops along with the power to redline.
PS: Note the super spikey line in the bottom chart, that was the boost signal my computer was getting because RT had totally rooted the boost hoses in the engine bay (also same boost signal car had when i got chopped by carly lol)...... after speedworks fixed it the link now gets the smooth curved boost signal you see in darker green.

As i said - im just judging from what i can see while driving. So not 100% sure - from what i could see boost was still very high at high rpm (mech boost gauge). I'l have to wait until i can get a plot.
The bosch 040 might also be causing me some grief with power as-well.. will have to talk to lane. Getting a 044 very soon anyway. i fucked up getting it... |

Hmm if your showing 1.8bar all the time then I would say that the power drops slightly jsut because of an increase in backpressure....but thats fine because to get more power youd need a bigger exhaust housing which would create an even more peaky powerband. Looks like the FPGREEN has delivered the goods again.
How much did it cost you??? My GT25 is a pig to come on boost. I bet a T04Z spools faaster
