cryotreating materials that have not been hardened or nitrited is a bit of a waste of time, and bear in mind when you make things harder and stronger they also become more brittle, so when it fails it just cracks through. a cryotreated gearset will be the same as driving a gearbox made of glass, the cogs will not absorb any energy from a bad shift and will snap teeth.
