instrumentation cluster backlight dims - engine rpm increases

Has onyone experienced the backlight on the digital displays in the instrumentation cluster dim.

When the backlight dims, the rpms increase and then return to normal.

I've also noticed that acceleration is a little sluggish. Not sure if this is related.

Vehicle is a stock MY07.

I got a Stock MY07 STI and I have not noticed this happen with mine. Does it dim permantly or is it just a flicker? Is this happening when you turn on your park lights or headlights or both? The STI have there instrament cluster permantly lit bright red all the time unless you adjust it. Not sure about the teh WRX's

Don't seem to have any problem with my display dimming.

Azzuri 29-04-2007 08:33 AM

It starts off being lit (in my case green) as the engine is idling it will flicker for a second or two and then resumes being lit solidly and after a little while it will do it again.

At the time I've noticed this the car has just been started from cold and is just sitting still idling, no headlights or indicators are on. The only other things on is the stereo and climate control.

How low is ur rpm dropping?

Happens to mine at low revs when the thermo fans or anything using power kicks in. Having ur climate control on requires engine power, so as it kicks in and out you will find ur revs fluctuating and ur cluster dimming as the revs drop too low.

That COULD be a reason, no guarantees.

have you got any guages, ebc, turbo timer or audio system hooked up?

could be draining power..
