Default Ticking Noise....Lifters?!?!?!

hey

my car has recently been making this ticking noise, it is isn sequence with the revs, as they increase so does the frequency of the ticks....

I can feel the ticking through the brake and clutch pedal...

How should i go about fixing it, my mechanic has already put some "lifter Free" in it.

He also said that he has fixed the problem one by changing the oil in a maxima he fixed once...The oil currently in the car is motul 300 v chrono - i have done 1 driver training and been to the drags twice, is it time to chance oil, the car is due for a service in about 800 k's.

could it be the oil is due for change....

any help appreciated.....thanks

more than likely in need of an oil change. I recommend using an oil flush before you put in the fresh oil.

What car you got? WRX has bucket/shim setup. Lifter free is for hydraulic lifters.

either way, if you change your oil often enough your hla will never wear out and be noise free! how often do you service your car? every 5000k?

hey guys just an update on my situation..

I have recently changed the oil as advised, however the ticking noise stick remains... the ticking goes in sync with the revs...eg higher revs - faster ticking

Will lifter free do anything to help as E4LUTION said the setup for wrx's is bucket and shim or something???

Thanks guys

If you can feel it through the pedals, thats a fairly hefty tick.

I'd be checking the engine bearings...do you remember what the old oil looked like when it was drained?
