Turbo timers

Just woundering wat are the better turbo timer's for wrx's, n r they easy to install without damaging the pin code to start yr car?

Mister Two 18-06-2007 06:55 PM

turbo timers are not necessary on a WRX as the turbo itself is water and oil cooled. if you do give it a good extended thrashing just take it easy in the last one or two minutes before you switch off.

Yea what he said!!!!

Just introducing more potential for electrical faults when for the way you will drive the car 99% of the time it just isn't necesary. For the very occasional real hammering just sit in the car for a few minutes. You have probably spent the better part of an hour (or more) flogging it :D is it really going to have a huge impact on your schedual to spend a minute or two quality time with it on those odd occasions.

joey89 18-06-2007 07:08 PM

Stay off boost last 2-3 mins you should be fine . . .

I have a greddy TT very easy to use but yea honestly i turn it off before i get out of car anyways only if iv really been thrashing it i would leave it on!

wai 18-06-2007 07:11 PM

if you really want one though, i use the apexi one.
still interfere with the alarm system but works 90% of the time.

Elrico 19-06-2007 10:42 AM

As stated before i think only air cooled turbos require turbo timers. And as the WRX turbos are oil/water cooled they are not needed.

Spend the $140 on a hooker or blackjack.

Or a PWRX winter jacket!

:D

Hatzi 19-06-2007 12:27 PM

Yeah I stay off boost for the last couple of minutes and then another 40 or so seconds idle till the highjack mode starts to beep.

a hooker would be the better option

Elrico 20-06-2007 12:55 PM

The obvious choice :D

phizzle 20-06-2007 12:59 PM

When I first joined I asked the same question. Above and beyond all the answers you've gotten so far, the one that stuck out most for me was "why make a theifs job easier by showing him where all the ignition wires are" or something to that effect. It's true you don't need it :)

jEstEr? 20-06-2007 01:02 PM

blackjack AND a hooker, if you win at the blackjack.

Sorry to bring up a old thread, but no point making a new one. I no how use are all anti turbo timers, but just help me out if you can. Im after the adapter bit (like a piggy bck block connector) thats for the ignition switch harness so i can plug in the TT connector and the ignition switch connector together if you know what i mean. If any1 has got one or knows were to get one that would be greatly aprieciated.

the turbo timer i got is a Apexi pen shape one.

thanks in advance

Rossco 29-05-2009 04:46 PM

it's a "Y" harness sold by apexi......try VisionR in O'connor.

redlib 30-05-2009 02:14 PM

No go on VisionR having the "y" harness, any1 have one or know where i can get 1

SPEC IV 30-05-2009 03:37 PM

[REXPLOIT] 01-06-2009 10:01 PM

Here we go againnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

To RedLib... Try not putting it in?!?! ;)

To the OP. You dont need it.

Im pretty sure he has already made it aware that he is not intrested in what people think about turbo timers, but more so, if anyone can actually help him with this current problem. Im in total agreement, like i said previously, they are not needed however, he likes them........

Evo2 02-06-2009 06:09 AM

Save the cash and buy an intake instead :)

redlib 02-06-2009 07:40 AM

Got the intake done all ready :) haha. did state i no use hate them, but i just wont some help where to get this harness from, or if any1 knows how to install them. Or if any1 knows what the three wires are that are connected to the block connector on the timer. In the book the red one is constant power, Then theres two other wires one is ignition1 and the other is ignition 2, what the hell do they connet to thats all i need to know.

scoobygez 02-06-2009 10:56 AM

I know one should go to your handbrake i just cant remember which one....

Rexxar 02-06-2009 11:06 AM

i dont think apexi make it anymore for wrx as i was looking for one 2yrs ago and most shops has it under discontinued..this is for a gc8 btw

be carfull!! my mate wired one in and when the ignition system was turned off the ejector seat threw his mother inlaw in the pond.. :D

but on a serious not i have one, never installed it, you could use it to figure out where the wires go?

redlib 02-06-2009 04:54 PM

Yer found that out on the weekend. guess its hard wiring it in there. just need to know where the other two wires go on the block connector for the ignition. already know where the other ones go there easy, just the ignition1 and 2 wire unsure about. if any1 knows that would be fantastic.
