No you don't have to type a code in. It basically bypass's the BRANT system and lets you start the car. I found out from the RAC who had it distributed from Subaru. It did however say once it's been done three times, you should take it back to Subaru and get it reset as apparently you only have three attempts. What wasn't clear was if it was 3 chances to start it, or three goes at starting it using this method?

Unfortunatley, if sumones going to steal a highly modified import, all they need to do is start it once. Then when at destination, they'll just strip it.

I suggest you edit that post and take the procedure out, for the sake of every brant owner here. You have nothing to prove.

The reset procedure DOES require your code.
And only a dealer can change the code for you.

Thankyou that is what i was looking for, i was just hoping that it wasn't as stupid as to just let you start the car, even once. Glad to see that it actually had some thought behind it, and guys really when it comes down to it, the system really is fantastic . I mean the anti hijack is an excellent feature, i know that back in south africa it would have been very usefull.

This info just saved my ass/sanity today, so called 'professional' installers didn't know their way around the system and it reconnected it with me not having a password. Was testing the battery, fuses etc.

Before my brant system was disconnected, I want it to stay that way too . . .
