A good condition second hand auto box shouldnt cost more than a few hundred bucks.

But id still recommend doing a fluid change before forking out for another box.

PM Adrian. Hes got that heavily modified auto box hes selling. He probably knows his shit when it comes to auto boxes.

hehe yer i saw the box adrian is selling very impressive, couldnt convince mum to lend me 1800 to buy it lol :P, and pointless for a na anyways.

i have already had the fluid completely powerflushed by ultratune,

i put the fwd fuse in this morning gearbox is still crap and the whining/howling noise from the rear is still there.

does the fwd fuse actually disengage the rear diff?, so does that mean the noise isnt from the diff?

the whining coming from the rear could still be the rear diff even though there is no power going to it. But it could also be the wheel bearings.

Good save
Adrian's box would be wrong for this, his is VTD and 4.44 diff.
I have a suitable box for him, but really want to confirm first about the TCU
Does anyone know what likely faults are caused by a malfuncioning TCU? Slipping I would expect to be a mechanical fault, but really I know fuggall about slushboxes. After all I have two legs, therefore I prefer manual trans

slipping can be caused by old and worn out oil in the clutch packs. Im not to sure about why the box is not enagaging certain gears. But an oil change cant hurt.

Mate its the box,has happened 2 me twice on 2 different libs.
Find out from the guys that did the tranny service if they found anything suspicious in the pan.
Got mine serviced b4 going down south a while back and the owner told me that he found bits at the bottom of the pan and gave it 6 months life.
It lasted 3 months, went manual after that.
Either find a replacemet auto or go manual.
