Default clutch?

first and second would not go in without massive pressure on the gear stick whilst driving home..when down shifting to pull into driveway first gear was still spinning when trying to engage, as soon as i heard the gear grind i backed off, stoped car infront of driveway and went into first effortlessly.
was not driving hard and havent been launching.

thoughts?

thanks.

sounds like possible synchros or maybe shift fork 1st - 2nd? i had that problem. it was hard to hit 2nd sometimes without grinding until one day it stuck in 2nd completely, only $50 for the fork itself

might also be selector forks. First and second share a selector fork IIRC.

I'm thinking selector forks too, if not then def synchromesh is RS. Give it a change of oil and have a transmission specialist have a geezer.

First thing...adjust the take up of the clutch and see if it makes any difference before you start pulling stuff apart...there is a threaded bolt in the clutch pedal box under the dash...requires only very slight adjustment to raise the clutch take up point up a little.
