correct, the PCV will evac the gases on decel only.
never hook a catch can up pre-turbo, otherwise you'll suck oil out of the catch can into the intake, especially at big boost. |
pcv will also suck gases at idle, and bring fresh air through the crank case, to help get rid of water, and acid forming nasties from your crankcase
theres plenty of ways to hook a 'catch can' up, just make sure you dont pressurise your crankcase, otherwise you'll be pushing the rear main seal out... expensive and messy :)
My rear main is pissing out at the moment! Just got a new clutch and genuine rear main seal ready to go in. Don't want to be blowing it out!!! :D |
Some of you guys have been sucking too much gas into the cabin :) ...Picture below as Subaru made it...
Now assuming you have some type of medium in the catch can like foam then the oil will be collected before the air is returned to the system. This is how Sean from ASG plumbed my system and it works well. |
This is how I ended up plumbing it. I haven't had chance to run it yet as the gearbox is out. See how it goes 2moro......

scooter, do you still have a pic of how you plumbed your catch can? its coming up as being removed or deleted.
cheers mate |
Wow, blast from the past thread. Don't have pic any more. Contact Jo4an and he should be able to tell you what goes where as he has the car now. I remember I blanked off the pcv valve though.
