Default Perrin or Samco Pre Turbo Pipes GC8 Model

Any feedback appreciated on the Perrin or Samco Pre-Turbo Silicon Pipes. Approx cost, quality, performance gains etc would be great. Do they fit straight up to the OEM airbox?

Thanks in advance for any help

Hey mate, I'm using the Perrin Silicon intake pipe atm and the gains are definately worth the effort. The only drama is that it was a little long (remember that it was really designed for a bugeye and up) but I had to do was a little trimming at the turbo end.

It does fit with a standard airbox but you do return the factory flexi-bend elbow.
Hope this helps,

Darren

Massive difference to throttle response. I recommend the Perrin (even tho its 01 onwards - it WILL fit the gc8) - it's a direct casting from the sti part ... and there seems to be some magic involved in the sti design.

used to have a perrin and the difference is definitely there (about $330ish new) but have since changed to samco BIG turbo inlet hose (at almost double the cost ) as it goes all the way to the existing airbox position (i have aps cai) which is even better for me as i was using the factory elbow with the ripple bits that restricts the air flow - very happy........... oh and very bling

The genuine STi part made by Samco which is a homologated part for Group N GC8's is worth a genuine 15hp gain over the OEM inlet.

I've got a Samco sitting on my bench, ready to go in.

I remember driving Beefy's custard spec MY00 Evo 4 WRX a couple of years ago (when he owned it), and it had the exact same mods as my car, but it had a Samco silicon intake pipe where as I had the stock plastic one....the difference in response and torque was amazing in comparison to my car, even with taller gear ratios!
